Consumer Electronics Daily News 1 3 Friday, January 11, 2019 Shallow Digital Multimedia Receivers With vehicle dashboards becoming more complex than ever before, facing obsta- cles like receiver installation depth has been a challenge – until now! Kenwood is introducing its first ever shallow mount- ing depth, double-din sized touchscreen receivers, featuring Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility. Two receiver versions will be avail- able – the Kenwood eXcelon DMX706S and the Kenwood DMX7706S – both touting a 75mm (< 3-inch) installation mounting depth. Having a shallow mounting depth not only expands the number of vehicles that this can be installed in, but also provides for more installation flexibility with additional add-on products. Both receivers have an impressive feature set, including three sets of 4 volt pre-outs (gold RCA pre-outs for DMX706S, silver RCA pre-outs for DMX7706S), 22 watts x 4 RMS built-in power, a 6.95-inch clear resistive touch panel, viewing angle adjustment, 1.5A rapid charge USB input, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto ready, com- patibility with the Kenwood Remote App S, SiriusXM ready (optional third-party tuner required), Spotify ® and Pandora ® ready and a 13 band EQ with digital time alignment. Both feature support for hi-res audio file playback up to 192kHz/24Bit FLAC & DSD, while the eXcelon DMX706S adds tuned audiophile grade components and an adjustable three-way crossover for the best in sound quality playback. Bluetooth dual phone connection allows you to keep two phones connected to the receiver s i m u l t a n e o u s l y, allowing you to make or receive Bluetooth phone calls from either phone. Enhanced Bluetooth audio support featuring Kenwood's Music Mix technology enables you to connect up to five phones to the receiver simultaneously for easy switching between devices when listen- ing to Bluetooth audio. Dual zone audio/video is also includ- ed, enabling the use of a separate source, such as USB audio and video to be dis- played independently on a rear video screen and to the rear speakers only. Driver safety is further enhanced with both receivers also featuring two camera inputs for the connection of both a front and rear view camera, like the Kenwood CMOS-230 or CMOS-320 (adds touch- screen viewing image adjustment). The rear camera input also features built-in, adjustable parking guidelines, aiding in proximity view when backing up a vehicle. Both receivers also feature compati- bility with the iDatalink Maestro radio replacement input (optional third-party purchase required), allowing users to enjoy several vehicle-specific retention functions such as climate controls, vehi- cle gauges, OEM satellite radio, OEM Bluetooth, USB media player and more, as well as non-vehicle specific functions such as touchscreen-controlled radar detector integration with a compatible Escort or K40 radar detector. Murata Develops World's Smallest 32.768 kHz MEMS Resonator Murata Americas announced that it has developed the world's smallest 32.768kHz MEMS resonator, measuring just 0.9 x 0.6 x 0.3mm. With its miniatur- ized footprint, it is expected to make a significant contribution in reducing the size of IoT devices, wearables and healthcare devices. These applications demand longer operating times, reduced power consumption and an extended bat- tery life – all of which this solution deliv- ers. In addition to being 50 percent small- er than competing products, it also fea- tures excellent frequency accuracy as well. The resonator is based on Murata's proprietary MEMS technology, which has lower ESR and provides the poten- tial for lower power consumption in battery operated applications. Since it is equipped with built-in load capacitors that reduce external parasitic capaci- tance and mounting space, it enables greater flexibility in circuit design. Also, with a silicon-based wafer-level chip scale packaging (WLCSP), the res- onator can be packaged with an IC to eliminate the need for any external low- frequency clock references. As such, the solution is ideally suited for use in medical patch type devices, smart cards, modules with communication functions, wearable devices, wireless ear- phones, and other small and low-profile devices. "Murata continu- ally leverages its tech- nology leadership to innovate products for the consumer electronics market. Customers rely on us to provide solutions that solve some of their most perplexing design challenges. Our new MEMS Resonator achieves exactly that, making tomorrow's devices a reality today," said Jonathan Davis, General Manager Capacitor, EMI, Inductor and Timing Products, Murata Americas. About Murata Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is a worldwide leader in the design, manufacture and sale of ceramic-based passive electronic components and solutions, communication modules and power supply modules. My Geko Gear – 4G LTE Mobile Surveillance Monitoring Your Car 24/7 My Geko Gear is an up-and-coming brand in the dash cam market. The brand strives to bring new and high-quality dash cams with a user-friendly experi- ence. When designing its dash cams, My Geko Gear takes every detail into consid- eration, from design to production to cre- ating a dash cam that fits the user's needs. My Geko Gear ensures that all the hardware and specifications of its dash cams are industry leading, and most importantly, affordable. The 4G LTE Mobile Surveillance is the first cloud-based dash cam in the world. This new dash cam will monitor your car in real time 24/7 and be able to send you instant video alerts if your car senses any activity. Additionally, this dash cam is location-aware and users will be able to turn it on and off remotely. This is made possible with the OBD and a SIM (supported by AT&T or T-Mobile) card plugged in on the left side of the car. With a built-in G-sen- sor, if this dash cam senses an accident, it will automatically lock the file and send it to the cloud. Furthermore, this new model shoots in 1080p and includes the Sony Starvis sensor, ensur- ing users that they have crystal clear footage day and night. Shooting with a wide degree angle of 160, this will ensure that you capture the license plates and have a bet- ter view. GPS logging is also made available, so users can see all the routes that have been driv- en. With the new 4G LTE Mobile Surveillance, users will have access to their cars at all times.
