We just happen to make great condiments. Beyond that, Red Duck Foods believes that we can have an impact – big or small. We do this by bringing excitement and joy to the simplest of meals with condiments made of organic, thoughtful and trusted in- gredients. GN: Last year, Red Duck Foods became a Certified B Corp ® . What's been one of the best parts of becoming a Certified B Corp? SO: Hands down, it's been becoming a part of the B Corp Community. The B Corp Com- munity is so supportive, engaging and cre- ative! It's really great to have access to other like-minded companies so we can share ideas on how to use our business to create a posi- tive impact in the world. These businesses are also made up of genuinely great people, from the founders to the employees, who approach every day with a sense of purpose. GN: What are some ways you live and breathe being a B Corp every day? SO: We laugh and find joy in the everyday. It sounds trivial, but it's a big part of who we are. It's super important to us to take care of our workforce. Our team is our greatest asset and if our people aren't feeling fulfilled, in- spired and happy, it directly impacts out abil- ity to make positive change beyond our own organization. GN: What do you see as the future of Certi- fied B Corps? SO: I think we're really starting to see some great momentum from the business standpoint. Tons of mission-driven compa- nies are making the commitment to get cer- tified, incorporate more transparency into their operations and create a positive im- pact. The next big hurdle will be to im- prove the communication and education to the consumer and end-users. We're starting to see this in select groups, basically the 'early adopters' of B Corporations, but it feels like the majority of consumers still aren't very familiar with the movement. My hope is for the B Corp logo to be as widely recognized as the USDA Organic seal or other similar certifications in the next five years. Visit Red Duck Foods at booth #6379. Red Duck Foods (Cont'd. from p. 1) in 2015 in Golden, Colorado. The company is dedicated to crafting unique, decadent treats of the highest quality to surprise and delight con- sumers every day. We like to point out that the word 'stressed' spelled backwards is 'desserts'! Our products include chocolate bacon strips, chocolate bacon truffles, chocolate bacon bites and chocolate dipped jerky. These products are under our signature brand OINKS, the sweet and salty meat treat. Genesee Candy Land also offers jumbo, decadent cookies in five flavors, fudge bites and a line of chocolate novelties called 'ani- mal poop,' which includes Deer Droppings, Dino Dung, Elk Scat and more. GN: What is your goal for the show? LA: We've been self-distributing and work- ing with local/regional distributors, but now want to introduce our products to business owners and larger distributors. GN: What brings Genesee Candy Land its greatest pride? LA: Although we are manufacturers and wholesalers of unique sweet treats, we think like retailers because we are retailers. I cur- rently own one convenience store as well as a retail chocolate shop, so we are very aware of what's important in store owners' buying decisions. Things such as strong profit mar- gins with reasonable SRP for shoppers, good shelf life, displays and POS materials, small minimums, and great packaging that will catch the shoppers' attention. GN: Which products are you showing or launching? LA: We are launching two new products in our OINKS line: chocolate bacon truffles and chocolate-dipped jerky. We will have our other products – decadent jumbo cookies, fudge bites, and our animal poop line of chocolates also at the booth. Of course, there will be sampling! GN: How do your products or services help your customers compete in their marketplace? LA: Our products are very unique! There are not many completely new products being in- troduced these days, so when consumers dis- cover sweet meat treats – such as chocolate bacon strips, chocolate bacon bites and chocolate bacon truffles – the OINKS brand will generate new sales and another reason for consumers to return to that store. Also, we are the only USDA-certified manufactur- ing facility in the U.S. to produce chocolate bacon products. Finally, we have strong profit margins, free displays, low minimums and good shelf life for our products. For more information, visit booth #6703, go to www.geneseecandyland.com or call 303.526.3073.
