Taj Food: Dedicated to Quality, Sustainability The question is, how can we produce eco- friendly product, but also increase yield? For over 25 years, Taj Food (Pvt.) Ltd. has been one of the largest organic processors of organic rice, dried fruits, and sesame seeds in Pakistan. Having found successful busi- ness ventures across the globe, including North America, European Union, Africa and Asia, Taj Food continues to be the go-to or- ganic supplier of organic product categories. It is the company's practices and standards that set it apart from many other organic processors. Over the years, it has built a relationship with its farmers, increasing sustainability each year along with educating the farmers on efficient and eco-friendly methods. It has actually noticed a big difference in its inor- ganic arsenic levels with its rice by having its farmers switch to using less water and better soil quality. Investing in such areas has benefited its Long Grain, Japonica/Round Grain, Basmati Grain, and Red Grain rice with inheriting as low as 40 PPB levels of in- organic arsenic. As the climate changes and the population grows, the world needs a change in its farming ways. Farming is actually one of the top five causes of global warm- ing, so the impact on the cli- mate is more than we can imagine. Taj Food has dedicated itself to be one of the leaders in Pakistan in order to find answers. As it continues to embark on this journey of finding solutions, the company encourages all to join and give support in fig- uring out this question. At its plant, Taj Food has integrated mod- ern technologies to ensure the highest quality of product output, such as CO2 Chambers, Heat Treat- ment Chambers, Infrared Sor- tex, Vacuum Packing and much more. Other than the technologies, Taj Food ad- heres to the highest standard of certifications, certified in Organic, IFS, Sedex, FSSC22000 and Kosher. The company will continue its search for answers while taking into consideration where all products are coming from and how they are being processed at its facility. The ultimate goal is to bring in and produce the highest quality foods while protecting health and the planet. The Advantages of Wisconsin Ginseng An interview with Robert Kaldunski, Presi- dent, Ginseng Board of Wisconsin. GN: There is ginseng grown in the United States? RK: Yes! This precious herb is grown in Wisconsin. It is not the same type of ginseng that is grown overseas. It is a different plant strain. For hundreds of years, wild ginseng was grown in Wisconsin and used by Native Americans for a variety of medicinal uses. In the 1800s, Jesuit missionaries visiting Wis- consin recognized it as an herb similar to ginseng grown in China for Traditional Chi- nese Medicine (TCM). They began to export Wisconsin Ginseng to China. Our product was one of the first U.S. agricultural prod- ucts exported to China. GN: What are the advantages of Wisconsin Ginseng? RK: It is known throughout Asia as the purest, highest quality ginseng. It is a white root with medicinal properties known to re- lieve stress, increase stamina and increase re- sistance to common illnesses such as colds. Wisconsin has the ideal climate and mineral- rich soil conditions for growing the perfect ginseng root. When consumers want the best ginseng, they ask for Wisconsin Ginseng, the world's finest. GN: How is Wisconsin Ginseng used in the United States? RK: It has become popular with cancer pa- tients thanks to a Mayo Clinic research study showing that Wisconsin Ginseng is helpful with increasing energy in cancer patients un- dergoing treatment that may cause exhaustion. Millions of cancer patients find themselves exhausted completing the most mun- dane of tasks, and extra sleep doesn't seem to help. Now, these patients can take Wis- consin Ginseng to help sup- port the quality of their lives. In a collaborative phase III clinical trial, researchers at the North Central Cancer Treatment Group, and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, completed an eight- week study to evaluate the impact of Wis- consin Ginseng on the fatigue levels of cancer patients. They divided 364 patients into two groups; one group received a placebo and the other received 2,000 mil- ligrams of Wisconsin Ginseng each day for two months. At the start of the study, both groups ranked their fatigue, on average, 40 out of 100. After eight weeks, the group who took Wisconsin Ginseng showed improvements in overall en- ergy levels, reported higher vitality levels and less interference with activity due to fatigue. Participants re- ported a 20-point increase in energy levels, which is statisti- cally significant. Results of taking Wisconsin Ginseng capsules may vary. Please note these findings were realized through a controlled study. Dietary supple- ment products are not regulated in the same way as prescription drugs. Ginseng avail- able in stores may be very different than gin- seng used in this study. It is extremely important for people to be informed when purchasing over the counter products. There are many online resources to help people be- come informed about dietary supplements, one is the website for the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine at the National Institutes of Health. On Great River Organic Milling ® packaging, you may notice the blue heron, or a bird na- tive to the Mississippi River region, which just so happens to be where Great River Milling's (GROM) facility is headquartered. The great adventure of the GROM blue heron started in 1975, in what is known as the heart of the Hiawatha River Valley. Not only is the blue heron native to the GROM headquarters region, but stands tall as a sym- bolic reminder of the company's commit- ment to providing great organic products. A Bit of History GROM started operations on a small-scale fulfillment basis, providing local co-op's and grocery stores with many types of stone ground flours, pancake mixes and whole grain cereals. It wasn't until 2004 that Rick Halverson saw a vision for Great River Or- ganic Milling to take flight within the indus- try. Halverson believes in building strong relationships with people from all over the world while maintaining the value of great products. As relationships have grown, so have the scale of operations to fulfill the needs of the local grocery store to some of the nation's largest retailers. Whether you need a couple hundred pounds of flour for your bakery, or a couple thousand pounds of flour for your cereal pro- cessing facility, GROM is committed to helping you. Commitment to Bake Great! ® The Bake Great! slogan combines the company's name and its desire for those who buy GROM products to produce baked goods that are great because they are organic, but also great in flavor and nutrition. The GROM team has worked dili- gently to obtain and maintain various certi- fications. These include non-GMO certification, kosher approved, Quality As- surance International organic certification, along with food safety certifications from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, the Federal Drug Administration and American Institute of Baking. In addition to these certifications, it is also audited by customers upon re- quest, gaining confidence from some of the largest retailers and manufacturers in the country. New at Great River Milling The company is excited to an- nounce a new line of products for its customers, produced with the same care and commitment as its other products. From amaranth to quinoa, whole grain, to flakes and flours. Packing of these new prod- ucts can be found in smaller quantities, of- fering more variety.
