Aftermarket Daily News Wednesday, October 31, 2018 8 Berryman Products: The Good Stuff An interview with Beau R. Blankenship, Director of Marketing, Berryman. ADN: How long have you been with Berryman? BB: I have been working at Berryman since I was a kid. I started in the ware- house at 16, putting boxes of product on pallets for shipping. Through the years, I have held a number of different jobs, from putting caps and straws on cans, to blending all of our products as a chemical handler. After graduating from The University of North Texas, I went to work as sales support. Through the years, I have climbed the ladder. As a fourth generation family member, this company means a lot to me. ADN: Tell our readers about Berryman. BB: Berryman is a family owned and operated performance chemical compa- ny, celebrating our 100 year anniversary this year. Our company started when Waldo Berryman, a horse breeder, traded his prize winning horse for a tire sealing compound. He patented this formula in 1918 and went around the country with his family selling his handmade tire seal- er on the streets. When he hit a hot spot, he would set up shop in a hotel room, often mixing batches of tire sealer in the hotel bath tub, bottling and labeling the products himself for sale the next day. We are most known for our staple B-12 ChemTool, which was introduced in 1958. From our humble beginnings to a our now global operation, Berryman is still family owned and operated. ADN: Tell our readers about your mas- cot, The ChemTooler. BB: The ChemTooler came about in 1998, and has been wildly popular for our brand. We went to famous HotRodder Ed "Big Daddy" Roth with an idea for a mascot in 1998. He was well known for his unique hot rod style as well as his artistic crea- ture Rat Fink. We approached Ed Roth about creating a mascot for us that would embody Berryman's High Energy tech- nology. ADN: Why should people use Berryman? BB: Easy. Berryman has always kept our focus on providing the highest quality products to solve the everyday problems that people experience with their vehicle. We have been blessed in our long history with great relationships with our chemi- cal suppliers. We are able to give our customers the high- est grade chemicals. Berryman is one of the few companies that are All American Made. Everything we sell is blended, bottled, packaged and shipped all from one warehouse in Texas. We are the only company that uses High Energy Solvent Technology (H.E.S.T.) in our fuel additives; there are no fillers in what we produce; 100 per- cent active ingredients designed to get the job done. As you will see at our booth, most of our products are in a steel can. This is because our chemical formu- las are so strong that steel is the only thing strong enough to contain it. It really is The Good Stuff. For more information, stop by AAPEX booth #4409 or go to www.berryman products.com. OPGI Offers Wide Selection of Reproduction Corvair Components SEMA members know the best way to introduce your company and customers to a new category is to build a project, and boy was this a project! OPGI is embarking on manufacturing the largest selection of reproduction Corvair compo- nents, adding to its huge inventory of GM reproduction parts. For this reason, but also to have something special for its 2018 SEMA display, OPGI chose to build in-house this rare 1964 Corvair Monza Spyder, which is one of Chevy's turbocharged models. Being an east coast car, it was not in the best shape, requiring a parts car to scavenge parts from. After OPGI's Tom and Doug Farina stripped the Corvair, OPGI sent the body to Elite Automotive in Bellflower, California to fix over 50 years of abuse and rust. Many panels were expertly repaired before body work began. The Farina brothers restored what was left, rebuilding the 150hp turbocharged Spyder flat-six, transaxle, turbocharger and smaller components like the steering box. Much of the heating and air ducting had to be replaced from the large amount of rust. Of course, the entire suspension, exhaust and plumbing was replaced with new components. While the restoration continued, OPGI initiated sourcing and the process of reproducing hundreds of high-quality Corvair compo- nents, from suspension and steering to electrical and sheet metal parts. Its new Corvair parts and acces- sories catalog was sent out in September, and OPGI is seeing many happy Corvair owners bringing their unique cars back from, in some cases, decades of neglect from lack of quality parts. Breathing Equipment to Protect Your Health in the Paint Booth With the aim to further increase the acceptance of breathing protection equip- ment, SATA developed a modern-design solution, the SATA air vision 5000. A growing number of shops under- stand the importance of effective breath- ing protection equipment. Every day, painters are exposed to solvents, sanding dust and overspray. As a consequence, it is paramount for painters to effectively protect their respiratory tracts as well as their heads, including eyes, hair and skin. The new breathing protection system consists of the supplied air respirator, SATA air vision 5000 and a belt unit, which allows for easy attachment of dif- ferent add-on modules. Depending on the quality of the supplied compressed air, there are two available options of air reg- ulation units: either the SATA air regula- tor or the SATA air carbon regulator, which also includes an activated charcoal adsorber. With the SATA air warmer, SATA air humidifier and the SATA air cooler, there are three additional optional modules that can also be mounted on the belt to further enhance the breathing comfort for the painter. The breathing protection hood SATA air vision 5000 protects the respiratory system and the complete head area against solvents and overspray. The hood comes in a new, modern design offering maximum comfort and perfect fit. The head fixation can be adapted to fit every individual head shape and is easy to adjust. The soft stream flow- optimized breathing air and a large field of vision further enhance the high wearer comfort. The sound level inside the hood has been reduced to comfortable 64dB, while the field of vision has been enlarged by almost 50 percent compared to the SATA vision 2000. In addition, the SATA air vision 5000 is also equipped with a rigid bump cap, which makes working in areas of difficult access safer. The new, comfortably cushioned belt also deserves a closer look. In addi- tion to its user-friendly design, this belt unit includes two adapters for add-on modules allowing quick and easy attach- ment and removal, respectively the SATA air regulator and air carbon regula- tor as well as the SATA air humidifier. Both add-on modules can be switched quickly from one side of the belt unit to the other – what- ever the user prefers. In addition, the SATA air regulator and air carbon regu- lator can be swiveled and adjusted by up to 45 degrees, according to the practical requirements of the job at hand. Another very useful detail of the SATA air regulator and air carbon regulator is the fold-out support arm where the breathing protection hood can be hooked on during work breaks. The SATA air vision 5000 with belt, SATA air regulator and all other add-on modules were recently NIOSH approved in the U.S and are now available at your local SATA dealer. Stage 8 Marks 33rd Anniversary in 2018 Stage 8, a leading authority on locking fasteners for performance automotive, is celebrating its 33rd anniversary in 2018 building the best locking fasteners for the automotive, industrial, railroad and mili- tary industries. Since 1985, Stage 8 has consistently delivered measurable increases in equip- ment reliability and safety, as well as dra- matic reductions in maintenance costs and equipment failures. This is particu- larly true for the most critical fastener applications, especially header and exhaust systems. Stage 8 is excited to announce its new partnership with Kooks Headers and its locking fasteners are included with each set. Stage 8 designs extremely effective active mechanical locking systems that prevent even a single degree of fastener loosening rotation. They provide absolute security in the harshest environ- ments including extreme heat and vibra- tion. Stage 8 currently has more than 78 patents and trademarks issued or applied for. Stage 8 has more than 22 million locking systems installed in automotive and industrial applications, and not a single failure has been reported. Stage 8 Locking Fasteners are reusable and install easily and are available in all U.S. and metric sizes. Stage 8's customers specify the material and environment (i.e.: hot/cold, etc.) for their fas- tener applications. Stage 8's No. 1 job is to keep them in place. Have a particu- lar design chal- lenge? Contact Stage 8 today. It's engineering staff is ready to assist you in solving your most critical fastener challenges. Visit Stage 8 at SEMA booth #23023.
