Aftermarket Daily News Tuesday, October 30, 2018 5 8 Meet JACK What happens when engineers get cre- ative and bring hydraulic technology into the recovery space? Meet JACK. There's little doubt that the tradi- tional farm jack is a handy piece of equipment to have when you're driv- ing off road. You can use it to move your vehicle out of awkward situa- tions, lifting vehicles to fill in voids beneath the tires or even as a bead breaker when you have to make a tire repair. But, as we all know, farm jacks can be dangerous. They're inherently unsta- ble and there are countless YouTube videos of users getting injured from a rogue handle or getting their hands caught between the handle and the body of the jack. With this problem in mind, ARB's team of engineers was determined to come up with a better solution to the unsafe farm jack problem. The focus was to design a safer and easier mechanical jack while being lighter and more com- pact. Aeromotive Phantom Returnless EFI Fuel Pump The Aeromotive Phantom Returnless EFI fuel pump and baffle system has a built in by-pass valve set for 58-PSI of line pressure, eliminating the need for an external regulator and return line from the engine. The all-in-one Phantom fuel system adapts to any fuel tank from 6-11 inches in depth and includes the patented Phantom foam and bladder baffle to maintain fuel flow and pressure even when the tank is low on fuel. "Designed to be quieter, more effi- cient and affordable, this system is ideal for EFI conversions and motor swaps for early model muscle cars and street rods," states Steve Matusek, President of Aeromotive. The new Phantom Returnless sup- ports up to 600 FWHP naturally aspirated and up to 450 FWHP forced induction on gasoline. The pump assembly features an internal bypass valve providing a stable 55-60 PSI and includes ORB-06 outlet and vent ports, foam baffle and bladder sump, sealing gasket, high flow pre- pump filter, and C-Ring mount. The kit is gasoline and ethanol compatible, and the turbine pumping mechanism can be pulse modulated, making it ideal for late model GM crate engines. The Phantom system fits inside the tank without the need for welding or extensive fabrication. Installation requires minimal hand tools including a simple drill and 3-1/4-inch hole-saw. The Phantom Returnless EFI in-tank fuel pump eliminates hot fuel handling problems and vapor lock caused by cavi- tation while controlling fuel slosh in order to keep fuel at the pickup point (the pump inlet) at all times; even when the tank is low on fuel or during extreme driving conditions. Chicago Pneumatic Simplifies Tire Changing with New Impact Wrench Chicago Pneumatic makes lighter work of heavy vehicle tire service with the CP7782TL-6, the first and only 1-inch torque limited impact wrench. This pur- pose-built tool is designed to avoid bolt over-tightening, and increase operator efficiency and convenience. The CP7782TL-6 is part of the Chicago Pneumatic vehicle service tool lineup that is on display at the SEMA Show. The "torque limited" function of the CP7782TL-6 enables efficient and effec- tive torque level control, particularly for truck, bus and heavy vehicle tire installa- tions where multi-step torquing solutions are required. The tool's forward mode limits torque to approximately 370 ft.lbs (500 Nm) allowing the operator to tight- en bolts with confidence. When finished with a property calibrated manual torque wrench, over-tightening is eliminated. For hard-to-remove overtightened bolts, the CP7782TL-6 delivers up to 1920 ft.lbs (2600 Nm) of nut-busting torque. "In real world applications, time is money," said Chicago Pneumatic Marketing Manager Billy Lipari. "If the job can get done right and faster the first time, that's a win every time for the cus- tomer." The CP7782TL-6 offers a smooth forward/reverse switch with one torque limited setting in forward and three reverse positions to make operation even easier. The tool's aluminum housing and shock-absorbing bumpers protect the tool from daily use, while the ergonomic D- handle guarantees a safe, comfortable grip. The CP7782TL-6 is wrapped in Chicago Pneumatic's signature red and black colorway, with a "Torque Limited" label to allow for quick identification in even the busiest of shop environments. Rather than relying on a traditional twin hammer impact mechanism, the CP7782TL-6 features a pinless, closed, reinforced "rocking dog" mechanism that has only two main moving parts. This simplified but superior mechanism ensures optimal power transmission and unsurpassed durability. The mechanism consumes less air, which reduces operat- ing costs while offering legendary Chicago Pneumatic performance. Detroit Speed Inc. Ready to Reclaim Battle of the Builders Title Detroit Speed looks to enter two power- house 1969 Chevrolet Camaros into the 2018 SEMA Show Battle of the Builders competition. The first entry is a one-of-a-kind muscle machine, cleverly dubbed "TUX" for its detailed and sophisticated appear- ance. Since its debut earlier this year, TUX has received multiple accolades including Goodguys 2018 Street Machine of the Year and a Great 8 Ridler finalist award at the 2018 Detroit AutoRama. TUX is performance-packed, complete with thousands of modifica- tions that one could get lost in for hours. The second entry is a uniquely designed convertible packed with custom features inside and out. Just a few of the upgrades include a custom-fabricated hood cowl and header panel, and 3D- printed hood fender and quarter grill vents. "Both of these 1969 Camaros are unique in their own way," said Kyle Tucker, Owner of Detroit Speed. "TUX is a once-in-a-lifetime build that exudes class, with subtle details that demand to be appreciated. On the other end of the spectrum, the convertible is loud and in your face. It just depends on your style preference." Detroit Speed has been a part of the SEMA Battle of the Builders competition since its inception in 2014, when the company won the award with a white 1969 Camaro. Detroit Speed was a top- 10 finisher in 2015 and finished third in 2016. "I am very proud of all the work put into these Camaros and am excited to see how they stack up in the industry this year," concluded Tucker. About Detroit Speed Inc. Co-founded in 2001 by automotive per- formance entrepreneur and racing veter- an Kyle Tucker, Detroit Speed Inc. pro- vides products and services to transform classic muscle cars into all-around versa- tile vehicles with distinct design and per- formance. Turbosmart EM BOV – Electric Valves for the Modern Turbocharged Engine Currently hitting the shelves of major automotive performance dealers in the world is the latest range of electro- mechanical blow off valves (also known as dump valve, or diverter valve): the Turbosmart Kompact EM BOV. Available in both a plumb back (recirculate) and vent to atmosphere, this latest range of plug-and-play valves from Turbosmart sees an introduction to boost control for Original Equipment Manufacturers of turbocharged vehicle applications that require an electronic diverter valve. Featuring unique, patent pending, pressure control features, these units are faster than OE, greatly reduce boost leak by up to 400 percent and do not interfere with the OEM control systems. This makes for the fastest responding valve available for these vehicles on the market. The combination of billet con- struction and high-temperature propri- etary material allows for increased boost control, increasing the life of tur- bochargers while providing maximum performance. Brendan Lee, the APAC Sales Manager is particularly excited to see the latest range to be released. "This is a move in the right direction for the Turbosmart customer. Not just within the APAC region, but across the globe, we are seeing a greater influx of smaller, but more powerful turbocharged OEM appli- cations requiring electronic response valves. With this new release, Turbosmart is helping customers that want to take the next step in replacing their OEM valves with an aftermarket product that offers greater responsive- ness, greater reliability and greater per- formance." The new Turbosmart EM BOVs are the world's first truly plug and play blow off valves. Bringing to market a diverter valve without additional hard- ware required, no hoses, no adapters, no brackets, just replace the OEM unit; simple. This means a seamless integra- tion into customers' existing applica- tions makes the units very easy to install. "Technology is moving fast in the world of turbocharged vehicle manufac- turing and we are determined to stay ahead of the curve. We invested a lot of time and money into finding and testing vehicles for the EM BOV. We ran count- less tests on many vehicles to make sure that this application is perfectly suited to match the fine engineering and electron- ics of the OEM technology found in the latest turbocharged applications," stated Richard Hong, Production Manager at Turbosmart.
