NATURALLY HEALTHY www.gourmetnews.com n SEPTEMBER 2018 n GOURMET NEWS N H 3 0 New Beverages from Body Surf Body Surf Brands, Inc., founded in 2017 and located in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, is committed to helping people journey through a more productive life with healthy hydration. It is estimated that up to 70 percent of people live in a state of chronic dehydration and are unaware of their condition. After 24 years in the bev- erage industry, Founder Jerry Wilson em- barked on a two-year effort to create, produce and market a different kind of beverage. Certified USDA Organic, tasty and low-calorie (≤ 15 calories/16 ounce bottle), Body Surf Organic Infused Water was introduced to the market in December 2017. The product is currently available in four unique flavor infusions: Cucum- ber+Mint, Blueberry+Lavender, Straw- berry+Mint and Mango+Yuzu. Since its launch, natural foods markets, convenience stores, restaurants, hospitality venues and many other channels have se- lected Body Surf as an addition to their bev- erage offering. In less than six months, the company is into its third production run and is now distributed by Champion Brands, Inc., across the Northeast Florida territory. The company is focused on building con- sumer, customer and distributor value while expanding across the United States. The tagline, says Wilson, who also calls himself "Chief Hydration Officer," is "Whatever Your Journey, Surf Well Hydrated!" He adds that they hope to share the taste of Body Surf with thousands of leaders and engage in di- alogue about the potential for this unique brand. Body Surf Organic Infused Water is gourmet water with a fresh and appealing taste. Additionally, it is marketed to be a higher volume, single- serve infused water that de- livers great value to direct customers and their con- sumers. USDA Organic yet shelf stable, Body Surf brings a "best used by date" of 12 months from the date of production. The beverages can be stored in an ambient stor- age room prior to chilling while being mer- chandised in the grocery section at room temperature. The company believes Body Surf's retail customers will find these delicious beverages to be a welcome and prosperous product to offer to their consumers. The taste is very re- freshing. The containers are BPA free. Sim- ply stated, the product checks all the boxes for retailers. Body Surf seeks consumers from healthy, active lifestyles as well as any individual looking for a healthy, change-of-pace bev- erage. The products have per- formed well in chilled grab- and-go occasions, meals, afternoon beverage breaks, and they are terrific as "skinny mix- ers" in an evening cocktail of- fering. Body Surf is proud to be a beverage that is not only par- ent-approved but actually en- joyed by children. Wilson concludes, "We are very proud of the positive reaction we have had from our customers and their consumers. Although Body Surf was designed with and for the Millennial population, we have seen our user base range from younger children to baby boomers. This is a great hydration option for anyone seeking gourmet water without the fuss of hand making an infused drink." Local Foods from Swiss Villa Local foods promote sustainable agriculture, and bringing small-family-farmed, nutrient- dense organic food into a food hub for re- gional distribution into health food stores has brought the "villa" into view. Swiss Villa brings authentic, real food for consumers in- volved in eating well. Local. Raw. Sustain- able. Small farmed. Chemical free. Glass bottled raw milk sales only occur to in-state customers. However, the company's truly raw milk cheeses (more than 50 selec- tions from cows, goats, sheep and water buf- falo) can be sold inter-state. Swiss Villa offers cultured butter from 100 percent grass fed cows. Also consider the grass-fed Lancaster Local organic cream line of whole milk and yogurt. Local Grade A goat milk from Lib- erty View Creamery and an all-natural yo- gurt from September Farms bring more selection to the dairy line. Swiss Villa carries the Pequea Valley Farm yogurt as well. Its raw kombucha line includes elderberry, black currant, turmeric and ginger. Nine other flavors boast of the raw kombucha ben- efits, such as raspberry and strawberry. But then too, note the raw fermented red beets. It doesn't stop there! Red and green sauerkraut, kimchi, onions and ginger carrots offer color and easier nutrient assimilation items to your cooler shelf. Fermented bread and butter pickles come alive with flavor, and real food includes fermented pickles, garlic and horseradish. Veggies are grown lo- cally and hand-crafted in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Swiss Villa presents these goods to stores throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, DC, Delaware, New Jersey and New York. Grass-fed beef, pasture-raised pork, or- ganic chicken and turkey along with wild Alaskan caught salmon currently comprise the company's meat offer- ings. It offers numerous organ meats and beef mar- row bones for extra nutrient supply. It seeks meat sources with chemical free farming and humane treat- ment for the animals, but it also works with small busi- nesses for providing these goods. Swiss Villa Eggs are from grass-fed hens. These chickens have more than just outside access; they live outdoors daily as they wish to. Overnight shelter provides security from predators. Alderfer's Poultry Farm grades and packs these eggs. Swiss Villa relates with assisting Alderfer's in marketing its cage-free and organic eggs. Sylvia's Bakery produces spelt flour breads, cookies, rolls and more. The home- made deliciousness oozes from the Pennsyl- vania shoofly pies. But the goodness extends beyond into the pumpkin pies, pecan pies, old fashioned sweet potato pies and coconut custard cream pies. Fall season calls for stocking the pumpkin rolls made with spelt flour. Swiss Villa has included raw honey from local Pennsylvania sources. It has numerous flower-specific local honeys such as black locust honey, basswood honey and knotweed honey. Chunk honey includes pieces of the comb in the jar with the honey. You can also opt for the comb alone in a retail 10-12 ounce package. It also offers the Stockin's raw honey. Oak View Acres produces a nice line of shelf stable apple sauce, and it even offers organic apple butter and organic sauerkraut. Other selections include seven day pickles, pepper relish, stuffed peppers and chow chow. For more information, visit booth #1147.
