Chain Drugstore Daily Saturday, August 25, 2018 4 MarketHub is Your Hemp CBD Category Partner By Blake Patterson, President, MarketHub The market potential for Hemp-derived CBD surpasses anything I have seen in the past 20 years of retail experience. Its panacea-like health benefits combined with the vast variety of products within the category make it appealing to nearly every consumer segment. Market aware- ness and demand for these products is increasing every day. It's the conver- gence of education and access that applies to retailers and customers that is necessary. The endocannabinoid system (found within all mammals) was only recently discovered and acknowledged by the medical community. This has led to an almost exponential increase in hemp and cannabis-related research which has called for continued legal clarity and risk mitigation. The result is a market ripe for explosion. Despite rapidly escalating consumer demand, the market for CBD products is still largely untapped when it comes to mass market retail. However, things are changing quickly. The health benefits associated with CBD (cannabid- iol) are expan- sive and contin- ue to grow as more research is conducted. As with most consumer products, when cer- tain regulations, sourcing, manufacturing and labeling criteria are met, hemp- derived products are legal. It's a matter of knowing which brands do it right. MarketHub's brand partners have a clear vision of the industry and execute at the highest levels of compliance. They have been developing new and exciting prod- ucts to meet the necessary requirements for success. The CONTOUR ® DIABETES app that is part of the CONTOUR NEXT ONE blood glucose monitoring system (BGMS) has recently evolved by adding new features that provide smarter self- management of diabetes. This includes improved reporting, which can encour- age a more robust dialogue between patients and their healthcare provider, and also may aid pharmacists in meeting reporting and audit requirements. The latest version of the app includes the new My Patterns feature, which uses innovative algorithms to more intelligently analyze blood glucose results received from the CONTOUR NEXT ONE meter. By doing this it is able to deliver personalized meaningful feedback to patients that is designed to help them improve diabetes self-manage- ment and maintain positive lifestyle changes. The My Patterns feature analyzes data received from the meter to identify and notify the user of sub-optimal patterns in their blood glu- cose readings. Once it has notified the user that a pattern has been identified, the CONTOUR DIABETES app will prompt users about the possible causes and pro- vide guidance to help address it. The sub- optimal pattern could be due to food, exercise or treatment, so it allows patients to set personalized reminders or use testing plans to help improve their blood glucose patterns, and it tracks their Continued on Page 65 Continued on Page 65 AN INDEPENDENT PUBLICATION NOT AFFILIATED WITH NACDS Kimberly Oser Publisher Jules Denton-Card Senior Associate Publisher Anthony Socci Associate Publisher Lorrie Baumann Editorial Director Jeanie Catron • JoEllen Lowry • Karrie Welborn Associate Editors Yasmine Brown Art Director Jonathan Schieffer Graphic Designer Caitlyn McGrath • Susan Stein Customer Service Managers Jay Watson • Hannah Stefanovich Show Logistics & Distribution Marcos Morhaim Senior Account Manager Adrian Chacon • Danny Ranney • Kim Whiteman Account Managers Tara Neal Director of Operations Enrico Cecchi European Sales Chain Drugstore Daily is published by Oser Communications Group ©2018 All rights reserved.
